I’m leaving for Italy today for three weeks.
I’m going to our house in the town of Rocca Montecalvo in the hills outside Ascoli Piceno in Le Marche, which is where my father was born.
The past few years I’ve been able to go back during the summer where I’ve spent my days and nights basking in the glow of a way of life that is about as different from Toronto life as you can imagine.
Don’t get me wrong. I love Toronto. I couldn’t do without Toronto.
But my goodness it’s beautiful to step back into the world that my father was born into.
I will see you in three weeks.
Ciao!

Isn’t it funny: I just spent almost 4 weeks back in Florida in the town and in the house where I grew up. And I wrote a blog post about trying to figure out just what the concept of home means? I am split between that Florida home and my home here in France with husband and sons.
I hope you have a wonderful time in Italy.

Have a fantastic time - hope to hear about it when you return. PS- I made the Bocconotti yesterday & they were great!! Everyone including my 85 yr. old dad loved them. Thank you & Enjoy your trip.

Home is where you can always learn something new about yourself.
Or at a bare minimum, perform lewd acts of gluttony with home cooked meals.
08/31/10 at 6:28 pm
Have a fabulous time. Home will always be to go and be yourself like many years back.

Hi there
Just looking at the wonderful photos you posted, is it just me or are the clouds parting in a heart shape, lovingly draping themselves around the hills, or do you see the fig shape as fitting into the clouds?
Just a thought……
Ciao
